Life in the 21st century is not easy. Certainly, the socio-cultural and socio-political turmoil around the world in conjunction with climate change make for the most dire, challenging, and stressful of circumstances. Our relationships, our careers, our health, and our finances can also contribute to anxiety and stress. Living in this world, we persevere through these global challenges and the challenges in our personal lives. Often, we confront our personal challenges as we respond to the broader social dilemmas. We respond with fear.
Yet, there is another way. We can respond with love. A Course in Miracles is a powerful text that provides a framework for living in this world but not being at the its mercy. The course sets out a series of principles, concepts, themes, and exercises to promote a move away from fear and a move to love. By cultivating a love-centered mindset, we can begin to enact love-based actions in our lives and the world at large. Enlightenment isn’t in the future. Enlightenment can happen right now.
I began my own journey with A Course in Miracles more than 10 years ago. Over time, I began to read (and reread) the course text, complete (and continue to complete) the workbook exercises, and develop a meditation practice that I do to this day. The course has helped me immensely throughout my life. In challenging times, I have been able to focus upon that which matters and take stock of my response to the situations at hand. In moments of blessings, I have been able to more fully appreciate the miracles and the affirmation of spirit and of love.
At the end of the day, it is all about love. No matter the circumstance, the context, or the scenario, the course calls us to attune to love and to love as God loves us. In this way, we transform not only our thoughts, but our actions and the world itself. Love is all there is. Just imagine if love was the guiding principle in all we say and in all we do.
I hope this blog inspires others to reflect upon and consider A Course in Miracles as a beacon of love and light. Join me on this journey to learn more, share, and discuss the beauty of the course.
